I wrote the first poem presented here a year or so back. The other two date all the way back to 1992. They're all about the same person, though - a long lost love whom I've forgiven (in forgiving myself) but will never quite forget. Aloha, "Carly." Aloha, my careless princess ...
Watercolor Study of Carly Hansen (Honolulu, 1986-87)
Yellow, slightly orange-tinged, sunlight
filtering thru the ash-blonde of Carly’s hair,
which is bleeding into the improbable
olive tint of her tanned shoulders
and large bare
breasts,
offset by medium-blue skimpy bikini bottoms,
themselves counterpoint to
narrow beach of pale barely brown
implied to be drifting into sea green-blue
like Carly’s
eyes,
leading back to sun glinting off the
Diamond Head ocean
back into the sky
and the
forever dreams
of my
deeply present
unseen heart
Two Carly Poems (Circa 1992)
Laughing—
A burst of flowers
from a mouth
that will never touch
mine again
*
Her mountain breasts
rise to the touch of
another man
She is lost in pleasure
and has no reason
to think
of me
